Discover the River Teifi
The River Teifi is one of Wales’ most beloved natural gems — the longest river to begin and end wholly within the country, winding approximately 75 miles through stunning landscapes. It rises high above the village of Pontrhydfendigaid at the Teifi Pools in the heart of the Cambrian Mountains before meandering gracefully through the countryside and finally meeting the sea at Gwbert on the shores of Cardigan Bay.

Fishing on the River Teifi
Discover the Angler’s Paradise in Mid Wales
The River Teifi is one of Wales’ most celebrated rivers for fishing, known for its stunning natural surroundings and abundant fish species. Stretching some 75 miles entirely within Wales, the river begins high in the Cambrian Mountains at the Teifi Pools near Pontrhydfendigaid and winds its way through beautiful countryside before reaching the sea at Cardigan Bay.
Here at Cambrian Mountains Glamping & Camping, we’re privileged to have the river flowing through our meadows at Gogoyan, giving guests direct access to some truly special fishing spots.
What You Can Fish For
-
Brown Trout: The Teifi offers excellent brown trout fishing all year round. These trout can be found in the shallow pools and deeper riffles, providing a thrilling challenge for anglers of all levels.
-
Sea Trout (Sewin): This migratory trout species makes its way upriver, especially after rainfall when the river rises. Sea trout fishing on the Teifi is renowned for its excitement and sporting challenge.
-
Salmon: The Teifi is a spate river, and salmon fishing is best after periods of rain, when fish move upriver. Salmon runs typically peak in autumn, offering rewarding experiences for those patient enough to wait for the right moment.
Family-Friendly Fishing
Fishing by the Teifi isn’t just for serious anglers — it’s a great activity for families too. Children often enjoy catching minnows and stone loach in the river’s shallows, offering a fun, safe introduction to fishing and a wonderful way to connect with nature.
Fishing Responsibly
We ask all visitors to fish responsibly, respecting river bylaws, local seasons, and conservation efforts. This helps protect the fish populations and the river’s delicate ecosystem for generations to come.
Please ensure you have the correct permits and follow local guidelines:
-
Use barbless hooks where required
-
Practice catch and release whenever possible
-
Avoid fishing during spawning seasons

"We stopped here for three nights in September 2024 with Camper and Motorcycle. A really pleasant location and very friendly host. Going back again this August for 6 nights as we enjoyed the peace and tranquility. The showers and toilets were spotless.
Looking forward to a well earned break away and this could be our go to place in the future
