Out and About in the Cambrian Mountains
There’s more to Mid Wales than meets the eye — layers of legend, hidden valleys, wildlife, wonder, and warm welcomes. Cambrian Mountains Glamping and Camping is nestled near the village of Llanddewi Brefi, a place rich in story and soul.

A Village with a Legend
The name Llanddewi Brefi says it all — llan (sacred land), Dewi (the Welsh name for Saint David), and Brefi, the river that runs through the valley. This quiet village, home to just 500 people, played host to one of St David’s miracles. When a crowd gathered to hear him preach but couldn’t see him, the earth is said to have risen beneath his feet. Today, St David’s Church stands on that very mound — a Grade II* listed site and a spiritual anchor for the region.
Stories in the Stone
Take a wander up to Cwm Brefi, a picturesque valley threaded by the river. Here you'll see Craig y Foelallt, a split rock said to have cracked in two when an oxen bellowed in grief — a tale as wild as the landscape itself. Or delve into more modern myth — in the 1970s, the quiet hills around Llanddewi Brefi were the centre of Operation Julie, one of the world’s biggest LSD drug busts. Yes, really.
And for the TV buffs: this unassuming village gained fame as the fictional home of Daffyd Thomas in Little Britain — visitors still stop to snap a photo by the village sign.

Guest Reviews
"Our 3rd visit here in the past 6 months, we stayed in Ty Twt Teifi twice & Bwthyn Bach Brefi once & thoroughly enjoyed each time especially the hot tub & fire pit. The pods have everything you want and need, quirky & fully functional. Meena (the host) is extremely welcoming, friendly and attentive, the newly introduced Hampers are awesome and reasonably priced. High recommended staying here if you’re looking for a relaxing, chilled environment. Even has a laundry room if your planning longer stays."

"Wow what a fabulous location. If you are anything like me and crave peace and quiet, this is the place for you. The house has everything you could possibly wish for. Relaxing in the hot tub is a must. At night the light pollution is non existent, so the stars will come out to play on a clear night. Your hosts Menna & John are an absolute delight and nothing is too much trouble. The walks in the area are a must. Thank you the Hill family"
